Hope Quito’s 2nd Church Retreat

Brothers and sisters, let’s be encouraged by the news abroad and continue to uphold their work through our prayers….

******************************************************

Report from Brother Wee Leng on 15 Aug 07:

Hi All,

We’ve just had our 2nd retreat in a small town of Baños (from 10 Aug to 12 Aug). We booked an entire hostel (with capacity for 20) for 22 persons, and went via rented bus.

It was a good experience in all…

Here’s some of the snapshots of what happened and thanksgiving points…

 1) More Spiritual!

This time, the retreat has more spiritual atmosphere than last year’s.

– There was better p&w atmosphere: there was more emphasis on the importance of worship and praise, and focus on moving in the Spirit, less distraction from a closed surrounding environment, heart and spiritual preparation was better, and generally the people are more receptive and spiritually interested this round.

– People were touched/ministered by God’s during the p&w sessions.

 2) The Theme Has More focus

– Through a specific verse Matt 28:18-20 and theme (A Family of Disciples), we were able to home in on getting people to be true disciples of Christ. Daily devotions, teachings and fellowship helped.

– People here challenged and impacted by God’s Word.

 3) Everyone is involved

-We’re glad that most people were involved in a very active way: Lenin (camp leader), Viviana (children church), Luis (logistics and photographer), Carolina (food), Alejandro (sound and instruments), Lupe (first aid, lodging, payments).

 4) Fellowship time

There was strong fellowship. Although it rained during the camp and in the journeys, people showed love and concern for one another. The food was also great.

 5) Water Baptism

Five persons (Luis, Carolina, Alejandro, Monica, Ricardo) obeyed Jesus’ command to be water baptized. It was carried out at the pool in the rain, while families and relatives looked on.

 6) Conversion!!!

Also, there was a salvation, the hostel assistant there accepted Christ into his life, Alejandro donated his Bible and we gave him a Daily Bread devotional, and asked him to look and belong to a local protestant church there.

Attached is the link to the photos… http://groups.msn.com/WeeLengWanping/pictures

At the end, we were all exhausted, but nonetheless grateful. We look forward to continuation of God’s work in the lives of everyone in this family.

Thanks for your prayers,

Hope Quito.
